Camp Cloakwood

Illustration for Motion

For the final project of Illustration for Motion (an online course taught by Sarah Beth Morgan at School of Motion) we were tasked with creating a storyboard and 6-8 style frames for a ~1 minute animation about Camp Cloakwood. This camp is a place for adults to gather once a year and celebrate all things witches and wizards.

All we were given was a script, and it was up to each student to individually think of a concept and style.

My inspiration for the concept and design was heavily based in fortune telling and medieval artwork, specifically stories of knights and witches and dragons.

I used fortune telling motifs to connect the disparate scenes. I also felt that opening and ending with a crystal ball was a fun way to sell the camp to the viewer, because their attendance is already in their future.
