Landscapes and architecture are my favorite things to draw, so whenever I travel somewhere I love to sketch some of the places we saw. Generally my trips are pretty busy and there isn't a lot of time to actually draw during our travels. Once I'm home, I typically spend a few weeks drawing from my photos. Here are some sketches I had from my trip to Austria last spring.
I really need to learn how to take better photos of my sketchbooks.
Each of these sketches takes me somewhere between 5 and 20 minutes. I enjoy working quickly with these because I think the shaky pen lines give a lot of life to architecture drawings.
Then I slowed down and spent some time painting this scene from Bratislava, the capital of nearby Slovakia.
With the state of the world right now I'm not sure when I'll be able to travel again, and looking back at these drawings is making me want to go more than ever. In the meantime I will continue to stay hunkered down at home.
